Ji-soo was connected to everyone and everything: Chief Eun’s corruption origin story, Detective Nam almost retirement, the police force, Ahn, Jae-in and Sung-mo. Now, I don’t like it but I guess I kinda understand why the show made this choice and, please, hear me out because I feel like this death is as senseless as anyone of you. She was a Sunflower, people followed her lead, people liked her for her disposition and grit. She was also smart, strong and full of life.

He stole the heart of the show because that’s exactly what Ji-soo was: she was an older sister, a role model, friend, a daughter and a colleague. In the language of the flowers the Sunflower represents devotion and love, it literally means “ I’m only looking at you”, and in the end it was Ji-soo’s blind belief in Sung-mo that lead her to her untimely death.ĭon’t get me wrong, I’m not blaming either of them, the only culprit here is Kang Geun-tae. It also kept on shoving the sunflower locket in our faces and it’s no secret I always thought it was from Sung-mo and that its symbolism was related to him.

The show has been hinting at the danger Ji-soo was in for a few weeks now, particularly when she started piecing everything together in regards of Sung-mo and his mother. With no real police backup to help her out since Daddy Dearest called off, once again, his daughter’s orders to save himself from an internal investigation, leaving her completely exposed to danger. Stabbed and slashed by Kang Geun-tae, right in front of Sung-mo and minutes away from Ahn getting to the scene.

In a post Game of Thrones’main characters loses its head world, Dramaland still managed to keep its formula, you know? What I always called the Dramaland Laws: boy meets girl, push and pull relationship, second female lead has one sided crush, second leading syndrome guarantee, the bad guys don’t win over the good guys. So many things happened on this episode that I still feel emotionally stunned about it.
